PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The City of Oxford will be holding a Public Hearing to review an application for a State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan and to make available to the public the contents of an environmental information document and the City’s project plan. These documents include design and environmental information related to the proposed improvements to the City’s water supply system.
The proposed project includes water tower rehabilitation which includes lead mitigation for exterior coating, blasting and re-coating the interior and exterior, adding a security fence, and fixing safety/ standards items. Minor excavation (3'x3'x3' hole) for foundation repair of a pier is also needed. Improvements to the water distribution system throughout the City are also proposed. Work includes replacing hydrants & valves, the installation of water mains to create a looped system, and replacing water meters and all associated appurtenances and connections. Replacing hydrants and water main installation will require open-trench construction. Pavement replacement is also proposed. Additionally, electrical and controls improvements are proposed. These include well pumps VFDs, replacing well pump flowmeters, adding a SCADA system for remote monitoring/ controls, updates to make chemical feed system flow paced, adding a mixing system to the water tower, and adding water tower level reading; minor trenching is anticipated for the controls improvements.
The purpose of this Public Hearing is to inform area residents of the community of Oxford Junction of this proposed action, discuss the actual cost and user fees associated with this project, and to address citizen’s concerns, if any, with the plan.
